Practical Visitor Information (Visa, Documents, Attendants)

Medical Visa / e-Medical Visa: Most patients must apply for a medical visa to travel to India for treatment. Consulates require a hospital invitation letter with treatment details, passport copy, prior medical reports, and an estimated duration of stay. Hospitals are expected to upload required data to government portals when issuing the invitation. Attendants (usually up to two) may get a medical-attendant visa. Registering with local FRRO/immigration after arrival may be required.

Legal and Regulatory Points you should know

These are the important legal facts that affect international patients — please read carefully:

  1. ART clinics & banks are regulated.

The Assisted Reproductive Technology (Regulation) Act, 2021 and associated Rules/Regulations require ART clinics and banks to register, follow strict record-keeping, consent processes and standard operating procedures for gametes/embryos. Horizon women and fertility follows those standards.

  • Certain services have legal limits — surrogacy and donor rules where we follow India’s Surrogacy (Regulation) Act and related guidance
  • Age and eligibility limits may apply.
  • The ART Act sets clinical eligibility norms (including age guidance) that clinics follow; there have been case-by-case judicial exceptions. If you are close to any eligibility limit, we will discuss legal pathways before you travel.

Bottom line: many standard ART services such as IVF/ICSI, ovulation induction, oocyte/sperm freezing and IUI are available to international patients — but surrogacy and donor arrangements are not available with us.

Costs, Timelines & Appointments

We provide a written cost estimate after the initial consultation. Each IVF cycle typically requires 2–6 weeks on site depending on the protocol; egg-retrieval to embryo transfer timing varies by cycle plan. Fertility-preservation (egg freezing) usually needs 10–14 days on site. Exact timelines will be clear after the initial review.

Safety, Accreditation and Privacy

Horizon works with accredited IVF laboratories and complies with national ART Rules for cryostorage, lab quality and patient confidentiality. We prvide secure electronic discharge summaries after treatment
